JEFF CLAIR 'Old Simon Tackett'
Type of Product: CD/Tape
Description
We had never heard of Clair, but he has a good mountain sound, and his singing is very similar in timbre and style to Ralph Stanley II (not Dr. Ralph, but “Two” as he is known in the trade) It’s definitely a Stanley sound, with good cross-picked guitar (apparently by Clair himself) and a couple of Stanley Classics thrown in as well (MOTHER NO LONGER AWAITS ME AT HOME and WE’LL BE SWEETHEARTS IN HEAVEN.) Don Rigsby sings tenor & plays fiddle here too. DIRTY BLACK COAL, COLD LOVE, THUNDER IN THE MOUNTAINS, FOUR HORSEMEN, CINDY, etc.
