Ms. Hassler has a well produced album here, produced by fiddler Jimmy Van Cleve. The singer’s voice seems more likely to be associated with country music, but she seems quite at home here, especially on the faster, hard-driving songs (which most of the songs are). Some of the cuts border on being over-produced (such as the hectic instrumental SENSABAUGH TUNNEL), but in general it’s a good sound, with much of the nice backup work provided by a group that includes guests Adam Steffey on mandolin, Clay Jones on guitar and Van Cleve on fiddle. Apart from a good version of Carter Stanley’s OUR LAST GOODBYE, all the other songs are new to the genre, including several originals by band member Josh Miller. SEVEN MILES FROM WICHITA, LOVE IS OUR BUSINESS, GOING ON THE NEXT TRAIN, HARD RAIN, etc.
