Story, one of the top names in Bluegrass in the 1950s and 60s, was past the prime of his Mercury, Columbia and Starday years when he cut these recordings for the CMH label in 1976. He no longer had the top sidemen and did less of the singing himself. These 20 songs --cut at Arthur Smith's studio in Charlotte --are spotty. There's some nice singing and mandolin picking by Red Rector, but in general there are earlier & better versions of most of the songs. GONE HOME, SHOUT AND SHINE, FAMILY REUNION, ARE YOU AFRAID TO DIE, ANGELS ROCK ME TO SLEEP, A MILLION YEARS IN GLORY, etc.
