Originally recorded in 1980 when both fiddlers were at their peak, this is one fine Bluegrass twin fiddle album. There's a good variety in the tunes chosen, from the slightly jazzy FAREWELL BLUES and the title tune to a couple of lovely waltzes (WESTPHALIA and McHATTIE'S). But the real kickers are the all out renditions of the Bill Monroe classics ROANOKE, TALLAHASSEE, LOUISVILLE BREAKDOWN and PANHANDLE COUNTRY. Fine backup is provided by Allen Shelton (banjo), Buck White and Larry Sledge (mandolin), Benny Williams (guitar) and the late Roy Hushey Jr. A superb album by two of the all-time great Bluegrass fiddlers!
