In 1936, upon moving to a major radio station, the Carter Family from Texas changed their name to the Chuck Wagon Gang to avoid confusion with the Sara-Maybelle-AP Carter Family. The Texans went on to become the most important and enduring pre-WWII white gospel singing group, remaining active to this day, 42 years after the last original member retired after - 42 years in the quartet. While they maintain the classic Chuck Wagon Gang vocal style, No Depression in Heaven finds them continuing to move in a bluegrass direction in instrumentation and arrangements.
