6 CD Set

Tommy Jackson's name still comes up whenever fiddlers get together to talk about their art, even though he died in 1979 and was largely inactive for ten years before that. Today's eldest generation of Nashville fiddlers remember Tommy Jackson as "the old man," their major Influence when they were starting out. While the early masters, the first generation prototypes of professional country fiddlers such as Doc Roberts, Clayton McMichen, and Arthur Smith, are more distant memories, Tommy Jackson hit his stride in the 1950s and 1960s, and for a decade or so, his records were some of the only fiddle-centric country records on the market. His fiddle playing was featured on countless studio recordings of country and bluegrass classics.
