Fiddlers Spencer and Rains have dug deeply in the old-time music of the Midwest and Texas. Although a couple of songs associated with Bob Wills appear, this is old-time, not western swing. Their third volume of Old Texas Fiddle shows how deep the supply of tunes must be. The 21 selections include familiar titles (“Lost Indian”), ones not usually associated with traditional fiddling (“Campbells Are Coming”), and whole bunch I had not heard before (“Mace Bell’s Civil War March”). Like all Tiki Parlour releases, this is a lovely package including a booklet with detailed notes about each tune. Important and well played music!
