BIG COUNTRY BLUEGRASS 'Memories Of The Past' REB-1848-CD

A followup to this group's very successful previous album, this excellent band from Southwestern Virginia does a fine job on another Tom T. and Dixie Hall song I'M PUTTING ON MY WALKING SHOES; (their first album for Rebel featured the Halls' wonderful THE BOYS IN HATS & TIES). If you like hard-core traditional Bluegrass you'll love the way this spirited group comes up with good material and does it up in superb style. Led by Tommy & Teresa Sells, the group features the fine singing of Eddie Gill, and top banjo work from Lynwood Lunsford, as well as good fiddling by guest Billy Hawks and guest harmony vocals by Don Rigsby. The band does a great job on 99 YEARS, LITTLE GIRL AND THE DREADFUL SNAKE, as well as an obscure but good Jesse McReynolds song MY TIME IS RUNNING OUT, A neat CD.
