Pete Pike had a long & interesting career in both country & Bluegrass music, recording for such early post-war labels as 4-Star, Coral and Rebel. With the likes of Roy Clark, Don Stover, Buzz Busby and Scotty Stoneman, he helped introduce and popularize Bluegrass music in the Washington, D.C. area as early as 1949. This 12 song disc draws from several sources, and includes 3 of his Rebel tracks from the early 1960s, plus a number of tracks recorded recently with a group called the Black Diamond Band. Noteworthy here is an old cut of OLD JOE CLARK that features the unique and distinctive fiddling of Scotty Stoneman. Though Pike probably gained more fame as a country musician, this record consists solely of Bluegrass music, with some original songs plus versions of KNOXVILLE GIRL, AIN'T GONNA WORK TOMORROW, LITTLE MAGGIE etc.
