Last Newsletter we reviewed Volume 1 of this set --here we have all different artists, but an equally high standard of wonderful old-time music recorded in the years from 1927 to 1937. The very generous 27 tracks here were carefully selected and re-mastered by Rich Nevins and there's a nice booklet of notes by Charles Wolfe and the late Guthrie Meade --the foremost experts on Kentucky fiddle styles. A wonderful opportunity to hear such artists as THE CARVER BOYS, EMRY ARTHUR, JOHN HAMMOND, the great HAYES SHEPHERD, and two superb musicians who never recorded commercially, Luther Strong and Monroe Gavedon. This is stunning old-time music, presented the way it should be, and a must for any student and lover of the great traditional sounds of rural Kentucky. THE PEDDLER & HIS WIFE, TIM BROOK, SHE LIED TO ME, HICKORY JACK, LAST OF SIZEMORE, LADY OF CARLISLE, REUBEN, HARD FOR TO LOVE, LITTLE BIRDIE, BOUND STEEL BLUES, SHORT LIFE OF TROUBLE, HOG EYED MAN, etc.
