Product Description

This duet from Georgia (Doug Spivey & Marvin Taylor) was fairly popular in the Southeast in the late 1930s: they played two guitars (nothing flashy) and sang in a style reminiscent of the Delmore Brothers, but tamer and without the “edge” or smoothness of the Delmores. Much of the material (23 songs) is sort of lackluster as well, though there are fairly nice versions of CONVICT & THE ROSE, WHITE HOUSE BLUES, FARTHER ALONG and WHERE THE OLD RED RIVER FLOWS. One cut of interest is I WON’T CARE, which Flatt & Scruggs recorded in the 1950s as A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW.
