HOT RIZE 'Take It Home'

HOT RIZE 'Take It Home'

Since this band broke up at the end of 1989, there was some question as to whether this last recording of theirs would be issued: happily the decision was made to release it, as it's another masterpiece very close to, if not equal to their classic "UNTOLD STORIES" LP (SH-3756), in our opinion one of the very best all-around records of the past decade--which is saying a lot. As on previous records, the group has come up with a perfect mixture of fine new songs and good arrangements of a few standards to set off the new material. The disc starts off with a perfectly paced treatment of a superb new Pete Goble song, COLLEEN MALONE, beautifully sung by Tim O'Brien: this alone is worth the price of the album. O'Brien's BENDING BLADES, Nick Forster's CLIMB THE LADDER, and the group's arrangements of BRAVEST COWBOY, LAMP LIGHTING TIME IN THE VALLEY and ROCKY ROAD BLUES are other highlights of a disc that has nothing weak among its 13 cuts. A superb production that is destined to become a classic. MONEY TO BURN, WHERE THE WILD RIVER ROLLS, THINK OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE, GONE FISHING.
