COUNTRY GENTLEMEN 'Return Engagement'
After an absence of 2 or 3 years from the recording studio, the Country Gentlemen returned to their original label, Rebel, in an impressive way with this striking collection of well-crafted, beautifully arranged new songs that serve to underline the fact Charlie Waller is absolutely one of the best voices ever in Bluegrass. The well-chosen material flows nicely here from the mellow to hard-driving(Norman Wright's AIN'T IT FUNNY) with Glenn Duncan on fiddle and Steve Wilson on dobro adding significantly to a superb bluegrass sound that is as contemporary as it is traditional. Every song is strong, but derserving of special mention is Randall Hylton's A TREE THAT STANDS ALONE and DON'T STOP BEING YOU, Keith Little's MINER'S LIFE & Norman Wright's powerful & sensitive LONELY CHILD. A superb job and highly recommended. MIDNIGHT MOON, LONESOME HIGHWAY, I'D LIKE TO COME BACK AS A SONG.
