This 14-song collection seems to be made up of cuts selected from several of Sory's many albums for the Starday label. Almost all of Carl's Starday recordings were solid, excellent cuts with first rate bands, even if they were'nt quite up to his superb earlier Mercury records in most cases and the music here is all fine, except DADDY SANG BASS, a rather weak cut that for some inexplicable reason leads off this CD. The main problem with this offering is the poor sound quality, marred by distortion and a tubby bass on several cuts. Still some good music by an important & underrated bluegrass artist. TRAMP ON THE STREET, ANGEL BAND, GONE HOME, UNCLOUDED DAY, OLD TIME RELIGION, HE SET ME FREE, LIFE'S EVENING SUN, CABIN IN GLORYLAND.
