Along with early albums by the Country Gentlemen and the Seldom Scene, this is certainly one of the 10 most influential of all contemporary Bluegrass records. J. D. Crowe has had many fine bands before and since, but none topped the quality of this unit which featured Tony Rice on guitar and vocal, Jerry Douglas on dobro and Racky Skaggs on mandolin, fiddle and tenor vocals. The original release was on vinyl in 1975 and since that time many have pointed to this as one of the best ever albums in contemporary Bluegrass. OLD HOME PLACE is the one song most associated with this classic recording, but it was also the home for SUMMER WAGES, SOME OLD DAY, I'M WALKIN and ROCK SALT AND NAILS. An essential disc.
