DOYLE LAWSON 'I Heard The Angels Singing'

DOYLE LAWSON 'I Heard The Angels Singing'

Judging strictly by the sales(at least in the Southeast), Doyle Lawson's gospel music must be the dominant force in bluegrass music over the past few years. That is as it should be, in our opinion, as Lawson's group represents every right about the music--the band is not only extremely talented, but hard-working, imaginative in their selection & arrangement of material, and thoroughly professional. Their newest CD confirms this once again with another wonderful selection of superb gospel songs that have not been overworked. Ray Deaton's distinctive & impressive bass singing is a significant part of the quartet's sound, especially on four fine a capella cuts. Other songs that stand out are ROCK OF AGES HIDE THOU ME, I WON'T HAVE TO CROSS JORDAN ALONE, and LITTLE MOUNTAIN CHURCH HOUSE. Superb work here, thoroughly recommended. LITTLE WHITE CHURCH, HOLY CITY, STORMY WATERS, THAT NEW JERUSALEM, THAT HOME FAR AWAY.
