Before expressing some reservations about this important release let us say that in most ways it is a gem and it contains some wonderful & powerful gospel music by these talented folks who work well together. It won't fit into any one "bag"(which is no problem); there are touches of Bluegrass, country and black gospel here. Least successful of these to me are the black influenced cuts including the first track WALK OVER GOD'S HEAVEN and LOVES ME LIKE A ROCK, besides a somewhat hokey arrangement of the former, these are somewhat sterile when compared to the raw gutsy emotion of a typical black group. If there's a weakness throughout, it's that tendency to try for a perfect, ethereal vocal blend; it sound like the group is working a bit too hard at this. On the best cuts, this is not the case. WILL THERE BE ANY STARS, WHERE NO ONE STANDS ALONE, and FAR SIDE BANK OF JORDAN are terrific cuts and worth the price of the album. All in all a fine & striking recording. NEVER WILL GIVE UP, JEWELS, IN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND, EVERYBODY WANTS TO GO TO HEAVEN, I'D RATHER HAVE JESUS, etc.
