This album is everything we've come to expect from one of the best musicians in the field today. Mandolinist and singer par excellence, McCoury is at the peak of his art right now, and true to the McCoury tradition, he plays a hard-driving style of Bluegrass with plenty of overtones of Bill Monroe as well as his father Del. The 4 instrumentals are especially neat, and pretty much unlike anything other mandolin players are doing today: the bluesy GLEN ROCK and THE ROAD FROM COEBURN TO WARREN stand out. McCoury draws on an outstanding cast for his accompanists, including father Del, brother Robbie as well as Jerry Douglas, Mike Bub, Stuart Duncan, Jason Carter, David Grisman, David Grier and Gene Wooten. Lots of great Bluegrass here.
