TONY RICE 'Guitar' REB-1582-CD

Add To Wishlist

This --Tony Rice's first venture into recording --has now been nicely repackaged...it still holds up as one of the great Bluegrass guitar records ever issued, with 4 superb instrumentals: SALT CREEK, JOHN HARDY, WINDY & WARM, etc. With J.D. Crowe, Larry Rice and Bobby Slone. If you've misplaced your copy, or have never added this to your collection, here's a chance to get one beauty of a record!

This was the first album that Tony Rice put out, and we must say it holds up very well amidst the entire body of his work. Recorded at the old Lemco Studios in Lexington, Kentucky, it seems that no US label was interested enough to issue it here, so a couple of duly impressed Japanese fans released the LP in Japan. As a member of J. D. Crowe's Kentucky Mountain Boys (with Crowe, Bobby Sloan and Tony's brother Larry Rice) Tony quickly became a phenomenon in the States and the rights to the record were bought out by Rebel Records where the album has remained a favorite over the years. With Tony in fine form vocally and with his amazing guitar work, this is where you will find his signature versions of FREEBORN MAN, DOIN' MY TIME, NINE POUND HAMMER and JOHN HARDY, plus the super instrumental SALT CREEK. Though there are only 8 tracks to the record, you get your money's worth with 6 minutes of FADED LOVE and a great 9 minute treatment of LONESOME REUBEN. A superb disc!
