TONY RICE 'Tony Rice (with Grisman, R. Greene, etc)'
Though it was rather quickly overshadowed by Tony’s next album (the much celebrated “MANZANITA” record), this 1976 recording was an excellent one, with fine songs and tunes, and fine backing by a group that included J. D. Crowe on banjo, Larry Rice on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on dobro, Richard Greene and Darol Anger on fiddles and David Grisman. It was another major step in Rice’s being recognized as one of the great talents in contemporary Bluegrass music. Any fan of Tony’s who doesn’t already have this piece will be glad to add it to his or her collection. Cuts include BIG MON, 8th OF JANUARY, BANKS OF THE OHIO, WAY DOWNTOWN, FAREWELL BLUES, TEMPERENCE REEL
