Mr. Bright, from the Chattanooga, Tenn., is a dandy fiddler who has a fine record here with 24 good tunes. He is accompanied by a group of local friends on mandolin, guitar, banjo and acoustic bass—they do a nice job. The music falls somewhere between old-time and Bluegrass—the banjo is played Scruggs style, but most of the tunes are more likely to show up in the old time repertoire: a good many of them are attributed to James Bryan, Norman Blake and Kenny Baker. Nice versions of the local favorite CITICO, plus INDIAN SPRINGS, SALLY GARDENS, BITTER CREEK, SOUTHERN ARISTOCRACY, RED LION HORNPIPE, ACORN HILL, LEE HIGHWAY BLUES, etc.
