This wonderful singing family has been away from the studio too long, and it’s especially nice to see them reunited with Jerry Douglas, who appeared and recorded with them on their best recordings and in their shows at the peak of their career. In addition to Douglas’ dobro, the guitar and fiddle of Bryan Sutton and Aubrey Haynie, respectively, also contribute to very solid—if a bit slick, at times—backup work. Emmylou Harris, one of the first to appreciate and feature the wonderful harmonies of the Whites, joins Sharon & Cheryl in a good version of FAIR & TENDER LADIES. There’s a nice selection of songs, most effective of which is the Billy Joe Foster/Keith Little masterpiece BEFORE THE PRAIRIE MET THE PLOW (hopefully a future candidate for IBMA "Song of The Year" award). A successful, well-produced album from a great family group.
