JIM EANES 'Jim Eanes & The Shenandoah Valley Boys'
The many fans of the late Jim Eanes will welcome this excellent CD, which is a complete compilation of his work for the Decca label(31 songs & tunes)made from 1952 to 1956, including several cuts previously unissued. The Virginia born Eanes was unusual in that he bounced back and forth between Bluegrass and country and had successful recordings in each genre. His Bluegrass sides, including an early version of HOME SWEET HOME, featured Bobby Hicks on fiddle and Hubert Davis on 5-string banjo, but the bulk of his Decca work was more pure country reaching its peak in the hard-core country classic I CRIED AGAIN. With a full discography and a fine set of notes by Gary Reid, this is a typically superb Bear Family production and recommended to any fans of Eanes. TOMORROW MAY BE DIFFERENT, GLOOMY TOMORROW, POSSUM HOLLOW, BABY BLUE EYES, LITTLE BROWN HAND, JUST SUPPOSE, PRISONER OF WAR, THE BEGINNING OF THE END, etc. German import.
