On the strength of the superb singing of guitarist John Chapman, this band may be just a step away from being one of the power groups of today's Bluegrass scene. John sounded good on the band's first Pinecastle release, but here he projects even better, with a distinctive voice that is strong and soulful and equally effective on hard-driving up-tempo songs and slow ballads. His dad and brothers support him with first-rate harmony vocals and the material chosen for this disc has been picked wisely: Jon Weisberger's LOSING AGAIN and MY HEART'S BOUQUET are both good, strong pieces as are FOLLOW ME TO TENNESSEE, GRANDPA'S WALKING CANE and CONSIDER THE LILIES. The album, beautifully produced by Ray Deaton, is given a distinct extra touch of professionalism by the fiddling of Stuart Duncan and the dobro playing of Randy Kohrs. Fine music here and well recommended. CANDY KISSES, I'M GOING BACK TO OLD KENTUCKY, NO REASON TO STAY, etc.
