Story, who passed away several years ago, was the first major Bluegrass gospel artist and he recorded prolifically for a variety of labels. Sadly, most of his best work for Mercury, Columbia and Starday remainsout of print. This re-issue of an LP that he recorded for the Sims label late in his career has some strong points but is not representative of his best work. The recording quality is just average, with some clumsy reverb added, and at least one of the tracks(GOD PUT A RAINBOW) is ruined by heavy drumming. As for the strengths, the songs are good ones and his band is excellent, featuring Bud & Willie Brewster, with Buddy Spicher doing some fine fiddling and AutryInman plays bass. With the pproblems noted, this is still a respectable Story album. JUST ONE ROSE, ANGEL BAND, GONE HOME, HALLELUJAH TO HIS NAME, I DRINK FROM THE FOUNTAIN, I'M READY TO GO, etc.
