OSBORNE BROTHERS "The Essential Osborne Brothers Collection"

OSBORNE BROTHERS "The Essential Osborne Brothers Collection"

Before leaving for the Sugar Hill label and then Pinecastle (their current label), the Osborne Brothers cut some superb Bluegrass for the CMH label: they also recorded some less impressive material for that company, which came out on LP albums such as Bluegrass Concerto, Number One, and I can Hear Kentucky Calling Me. I was hoping that a good chunk of this 20-song collection would have been taken from their better albums, but such is not the case. Even though there are some good songs here and Bobby Osborne was in good singing form, too much of the material is marred by heavy percussion and steel guitar. Not all bad by any means, but not the Osbornes at their best. PAPER ROSIE, CHEROKEE LADY, WE COULD, FAIR & TENDER LADIES, MIDNIGHT FLYER, SURE FIRE, etc.
