The Rounder label here uses the O Brother phenomenon as an effective attention getter for this 19-track sampler that features women singing Bluegrass and Old-time music. There are a good number of very strong cuts here, including Rhonda Vincent's wonderful LONESOME WIND BLUES, Lynn Morris' song of the year MAMA'S HAND, Wilma Lee Cooper's YOU TRIED TO RUIN MY NAME, Alison Krauss' EVERYTIME YOU SAY GOODBYE, and the lovely WILL THERE BE ANY STARS? featuring the Cox Family with Krauss. There are other notable cuts by Claire Lynch, Delia Bell, Laurie Lewis, the Cox Family and the Stevens Sisters, and an interesting live track from the 1999 IBMA Award show that combines the talents of Lynch, Morris, Lewis and Vincent (8 MORE MILES).
