JAMES KING 'Thirty Years Of Farming'

JAMES KING 'Thirty Years Of Farming'

King’s 4th album for Rounder is another good one, though it suffers a bit when compared to his previous records. The problem may be his backup band – it’s a competent group with its collective heart in the right place, but lacks the gutsy, state of the art technique and edge that could have elevated this disc to a higher level. The songs are well-chosen, but even the best of them – FLAME IN MY HEART, TOIL, TEARS & TROUBLE, DAYS OF GREY & BLACK and A FADED ROSE, A BROKEN HEART all suffer a bit when compared to the original versions. ROY LEE,HEARTBREAK EXPRESS, WHOOPIN IT, COLOR OF THE BLUES, PLAY US A WALTZ, etc.
