WADE MAINER 'Live For Collectors'

WADE MAINER 'Live For Collectors'

  • $15.00

The Old Homestead label, which has well documented the recording careers of J.E. and (especially) Wade Mainer, now provides this disc of music recorded at two reunion concerts in the Washington, DC area around 1970, when the group played Wolf Trap and the annual Smithsonial Folklife Festival. Recorded on a cassette recorder with muffled sound, this is mainly an item for the serious Mainers fan. As such it is a nice souvenir that includes Wade and J.E. Mainer, Wiley & Zeke Morris and Steve Ledford, all in an informal, relaxed setting with lots of laughter and talking. There are a couple of really nice cuts featuring the distinctive mandolin-guitar sound of the Morris Brothers (GONNA LAY DOWN MY OLD GUITAR and A BEAUTIFUL LIFE). LONELY TOMBS, CACLIN’ HEN, CONCORD RAG, TRICKLIN’ WATERS, BIG EYED RABBIT, TRAIN 45, etc.
