GREENBRIAR BOYS 'Best of the Vanguard Years' (1961-1966) 2CDs

  • $15.00

This 2-CD set contains most of what this New York City band recorded in its brief 6-year career. The group — started about 1960 by John Herald, Bob Yellin and Erick Weissberg— was probably the first city-based band to make something of a name for itself in Bluegrass music, with three albums on the rising Vanguard label and winning appearances at the famous Union Grove, N.C. Fiddler's Convention in 1960. Buddy Pendleton, Frank Wakefield, Ralph Rinzler and Jim Buchanan were other noted musicians who played and recorded with the band. There are 35 tracks here, including two from a Joan Baez album.
