ROSCOE HOLCOMB 'An Untamed Sense Of Control'
One of the highlights of the folk revival of the late 1950s and early 60s was John Cohen's discovery of Kentuckian Roscoe Holcomb. His raw, high-pitched nasal vocals are unmistakable, and his old-time banjo picking and bluesy guitar work are equally distinctive and fascinating, as is his mixed repertoire. This album is a fine companion to his previous Smithsonian CD (SFW-40104, $ 15.00), and together the two albums contain most of the tracks from his Folkways LPs, plus some additional cuts not previously issued. This is the real thing- --not for the faint of heart.
