PHOENIX 'A Place Called Home'

Another fine album (their third) from a lesser-known but excellent regional Bluegrass band that does all the right things and deserves to be a lot better known. They choose a good variety of songs (7 of them here by lead singer David Coffey) and punch them through with good singing, a solid, driving style and an excellent sense of dynamics. There’s no fiddle in the group, but Cofffey provides a nice change of pace with some excellent lead guitar work. Well-recommend traditional Bluegrass—as are their first two CDS: VA-01362 RISING FROM THE ASHES, and VA-02375 BLUE RIDGE FRAME OF MIND, both $ 13.50 each.. A MOTHER’S LOVE, LITTLE ROSEWOOD CASKET, LONG WAY TO VIRGINIA, ANGEL IN MY DREAMS, WANDERING BOY, THIS MORNING AT NINE, SHELF FULL OF DUST, THINK OF WHAT YOU’VE DONE
