Despite the title, this is not a Bluegrass album but a wonderful collection of 26 great fiddle tunes played by Stefanini, who is one of the finest of the younger generation of "old-time" fiddlers. Stefanini uses no accompaniment here --it's all raw fiddle; but Rafe's playing is strongly rhythmic and distinct enough that he achieves real success where most other fiddlers would not even dare to venture. Some of the fine tunes heard here are RHYMER'S FAVORITE, WALKING IN THE PARLOR, CHARLESTON # 2, JIMMIE ON THE RAILROAD, JENNY BAKER, DIXON COUNTY BLUES, CACKLIN' HEN, etc.
