PINE MOUNTAIN RAILROAD 'The Old Radio' CMH-8732-CD
On their second album (and first for their new label CMH), this 5-man group from Knoxville, Tenn. --led by Jimbo Whaley --cuts through some pretty nice straight Bluegrass, utilizing mostly original material with a couple of good standard gospel numbers added (TALK ABOUT SUFFERING and TRAVELING THE HIGHWAY HOME). The group's "story" songs are a feature (THE OLD RADIO, AUNT BIRDIES WINGBACK CHEVROLET, M.R's ROLLING STORE and THE LEGEND OF JACK HUFF) and, as one of the few Bluegrass groups to have a commercial sponsor, they finish out with their TENNESSEE PRIDE theme song, (for Odom's Sausage). DON'T STOP BELIEVING, TENNESSEE EYES, ALL THE HAY'S IN THE BARN, etc.
