In between their great early recordings for the Bluebird label and their 1950s work for King, Alton & Rabon Delmore cut a couple of fine sessions in 1940 and 1941 for the DECCA label. That is the content of this nice disc, which presents 17 of those pieces, including such fine numbers as WILL YOU BE LONESOME TOO, WHEN IT'S TIME FOR THE WHIPPOORWILL TO SING, HONEY I'M RAMBLIN AWAY, MAKE ROOM IN THE LIFEBOAT FOR ME, IN THE BLUE HILLS OF VIRGINIA and PRECIOUS JEWEL. The 22 song CD is fleshed out with 5 King cuts including the title track. This fine and influential brother team, with its great harmony vocals, is not currently well represented on CD, so this is a very welcome addition on the market. BABY GIRL, I NEEDED YOU, MOUNTAIN DEW, etc.
