A welcome re-issue disc that presents 24 songs between 1930 and 1937 by this Kentucky performer who recorded extensively for about two decades. Cliff, along with his younger brother Bill, founded the popular novelty group The Carlisles around 1950. This disc presents a good croos-section of Carlisle's unique repertoire: songs like RAMBLING YODERLER, HANDSOME BLUE, THAT NASTY SWING, PAY DAY FIGHT, TROUBLE MINDED BLUES, HOBO BLUES, BLACK JACK DAVID, and FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW. Lots of Himmie Rodgers' style yodeling.
