The Grascals are a new combination of veteran Bluegrass musicians who have served recently as backup band for Dolly Parton. They show a pronounced Osborne Brothers influence, which is no surprise with Terry Eldredge doing most of the lead singing. Others in the 6-man group include David Talbot on banjo, Jimmy Mattingly on fiddle, Terry Smith on bass, as well as Danny Roberts and Janice Johnson. There's a bit of steel guitar on some cuts but it is not intrusive and the overall sound is dynamic and professional. A nice first album.
