MUSIC FROM THE LOST PROVINCES

Here's a delightful & unexpected old-time reissue from a new label in Raleigh, N.C. produced by collector Marshall Wyatt. In a generous 22 tracks, it includes some real gems from the early commercial recordings of musicians from the northwest and north central parts of North Carolina. The highlight of this well-annotated disc is the inclusion of all 6 recordings of the legendary Frank Blevins & His Tar Heel Rattlers, including three of the all-time classics of string band music, OLD AUNT BETSY, FLY AROUND MY PRETTY LITTLE MISS and I'VE GOT NO HONEY BABE NOW. There are other neat cuts by the Woodie Brothers, North Carolina Ridge Runners, the Hill Billies, Jack Reedy and the Carolina Nighthawks. Not actually from Ashe County or even from North Carolina, but certainly close neighbors are the Smith County Ramblers and Grayson & Whitter(4 songs). A superb addition to the old time library
