Under the direction of researcher Gary Reid (who has also written a good set of notes) the IMG/GUSTO label has compiled this nice budget set of 12 Carter Family songs as sung by a dozen different Bluegrass artists. These include Wilma Lee & Stoney, Moore & Napier, Ola Belle Reed, Red Allen, Bill Clifton, Reno & Smiley, Carl Story and Hylo Brown. (We are slightly surprised there is nothing here by the A. L. Phipps Family). An enjoyable and well produced album.
