Here is a very welcome reissue of some of the best material recorded by a fine band that had a wide and loyal following in the 1970s and 80s. Actually, the group's roots go back to the 1950s, when Harley Gabbard and Aubrey Holt recorded some 45rpm records for Starday and some local labels. The band was a very entertaining & proficient regional group that eventually became popular all over the country and made a number of impressive appearances on the Grand Ole Opry. Throughout the band's history Aubrey Holt wrote most of their songs, and he's respected today as a fine composer. Gabbard's dobro, Paul Mullins on fiddle, Noah Crase on banjo and Jerry Holt on bass rounded out what was a fine traditional Bluegrass band. Among the songs found on this neat 14-track budget CD is the classic ATLANTA IS BURNING. With excellent notes by Jon Weisberger, this is a fine and much needed album.
