CARL BUTLER & THE WEBSTER BROTHERS 'I Wouldn't Change You If I Could'

CARL BUTLER & THE WEBSTER BROTHERS 'I Wouldn't Change You If I Could'

  • $17.00

Carl Butler was one of the better country singers of the 1950s, and actually recorded some very good Bluegrass too (for Capitol Records). While this disc will be of more interest to lovers of pure country music, it will also appeal to many of our readers for the inclusion of one classic 6-song session with Earl & Audie Webster, a superb 1954 date that produced wonderful versions of ANGEL BAND, LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN, WE SHALL RISE, WALKING IN GOD’S SUNSHINE and a cut of SEVEN YEAR BLUES that rivals the Louvin Brothers’ original for sheer power & beauty. The Websters are actually on 14 of the 30 tracks here (there are also good recordings of I’LL GO STEPPING TOO, TIL THE END OF THE WORLD ROLLS ROUND, etc), and the disc includes a nice 30-page booklet of discography and excellent notes by Ronnie Pugh.
