Old-time fiddler par excellence Stefanini is back with his third old-time fiddle album for County Records, another great one with no less than 19 individual tunes. Apart from the top-notch quality of his fiddling, Stefanini has the ability of finding great old tunes, and again there are plenty of them here, like his wonderful versions of LITTLE STAR, FOX CHASE REEL, KILLIN' BLUES and OLD DAD. Rafe also plays 5 or 6 of the tunes on old-time banjo (tunings are supplied for both fiddle & banjo on each track). Accompaniment is sparse but appropriate, with Jim Collier or Nikki Lee supplying most of the guitar backing and Rafe's 16-year old daughter Clelia also playing some fiddle and guitar. A warm, masterful job here on this highly enjoyable & recommended collection!
