McReynolds, renowned as one of the great mandolin players in Bluegrass music, is also a fine fiddler, which not everyone may realize. This new CD is a re-issue of an LP that he recorded for the old Atteiram label in the early 70s. There are only 10 tunes here, but they are all solidly played, and the sound quality is clearly an improvement over the original LP release. Back up is by the fine banjo player Vic Jordan, plus Charlie Collins on guitar and Butch Robins on bass. The cuts of TEXAS QUICKSTEP, SAY OLD MAN, and ME & MY FIDDLE are especially well played. An enjoyable fiddle disc.
