RED HENRY 'Helton Creek' AR-200-CD
This is a mandolin album, with 20 tracks, but they are not all instrumentals. Red Henry plays the mandolin and does the lead singing, and is joined by other family members: son Chris (guitar and tenor vocals), daughter Casey (bass), and wife Murphy (banjo on a couple of tracks). There are some nice tunes, both old and new, but the overall sound suffers from being a bit thin --a fuller band sound on some of the Bluegrass numbers would have made everything stand out more.
