VARIOUS 'Banjo In The Clawhammer Tradition'

VARIOUS 'Banjo In The Clawhammer Tradition'

  • $13.50

Here’s a very nice and generous collection of 24 old-time banjo tunes played by 7 different musicians ranging in age from 21 to 54, most of them now living in Virginia or North Carolina. A couple of these names we recognize from other collections, namely Adam Hurt who picks three good tunes in CHINQUAPIN HUNTING, CROCKETT’S HONEYMOON and ROCK THE CRADLE, and Ken Inoue (FORTUNE, MY DARLING WILLIE and JUNE APPLE). There are plenty of other good cuts, like Brian Fain’s JOHN LOVER’S GONE, Joey Burris’ SAIL AWAY LADIES and Andy Edmonds’ BACK STEP CINDY. The other artists are Trish Fore, Jim Lloyd and Matthew Neiburger—all are competent musicians and the disc is filled with good tunes (a handful of which have vocals). An impressive recording, recommended.
