CARL STORY AND THE RAMBLING MOUNTAINEERS WITH THE BREWSTER BROTHERS 'Unissued Recordings'

As is often the case with Old Homestead CDs, there is very little in the notes to this album to indicate when and where these recordings were made. According to the cover and notes, the recordings here were not previously issued, and featured the Brewster Brothers (Willie & Bud) on mandolin and banjo. Story fans will note that most of the songs here appeared on other records, and a few of the tracks sound suspiciously familiar—if any of our customers can place these, we’d love to know (one of the lead guitar breaks sounds very much like Don Reno, though we have yet to hear of any joint efforts between these artists). In short, the music is good but is marred by quite a bit of distortion, as if to suggest that these cuts were not from master tapes but possibly taken off a cassette or reel to reel tape. The 14 songs include FOLLOW HIM, IN THE GARDEN, WHITE DOVE, GET IN LINE BROTHER, ARE YOU AFRAID TO DIE, I’LL FLY AWAY, etc.
