On this, as on their previous albums, the Smiths present a smoothly textured contemporary Bluegrass sound highlighted by the wonderful, soulful singing of Amanda. The subtle, outstanding guitar work of Kenny adds substantially to a very warm sound --he contributes a couple of nice vocals as well. Ron Stewart adds his fine fiddle and banjo work to some of the tracks, and Alan Bartram is on bass. All the songs work seamlessly for the band, but I especially like their takes on Norman Blake's RANDALL COLLINS, the traditional CRUEL WILLIE, Gary Brewer's BLUES DOWN IN KENTUCKY and Wayne Winkle's DO THE BEST YOU CAN. Another lovely album from this Virginia couple.
