A pleasant 15-track collection from this popular family band from way back in the mountains of Southwest Virginia that has been preserving the legacy of the late Albert Hash, a much respected fiddler and instrument maker. The present group features Thornton Spencer (fiddle) and his wife Emily (banjo) and their daughter Martha. The material is split about evenly between old-time and a sort of Bluegrass (Jackson Cunningham on mandolin helps out on the latter songs, which include IF THAT’S THE WAY YOU FEEL, I THREW AWAY THE KEY, and DRIFTING TOO FAR FROM THE SHORE. The more old-timey cuts feature LIBERTY, SALLY ANNE, ROCKY ISLAND, KEEP MY SKILLET GOOD & GREASY and DEVIL’S DREAM.
