BENNY AND JERRY THOMASSON 'The Weiser Reunion'

BENNY AND JERRY THOMASSON 'The Weiser Reunion'

  • $13.50

Benny Thomasson, considered by some to be the finest of the Texas style contest fiddlers, recorded some classic tunes for the County label in the 1960s while still living in Texas. Around 1971 he moved to the Pacific northwest, the state of Washington, where he continued to take part in various fiddle events and contests with the encouragement of Phil and Vivian Williams, who produced numerous albums on their Voyager label. This album was one of their early releases, and shows Benny still in very good form, backed up by his son Jerry Thomasson on tenor guitar. The recording was done in the field at Weiser, Idaho in June of 1972 and includes 20 fiddle tunes such as APPLE BLOSSOM, SALT RIVER, JACK OF DIAMONDS, DURANG’S HORNPIPE, WAGGONER, SALLY JOHNSON, GREY EAGLE, etc. $ 13.50
