Four relatively young musicians put forth an excellent album of old time music with a Kentucky influence, playing fiddle, banjo, guitar and bass. There are 17 well chosen pieces, mostly instrumentals but with 3 or 4 respectable vocals thrown in including a cut of MAN OF CONSTANT SORROW that is more reminiscent of Emry Arthur than Ralph Stanley. There are excellent versions of INDIAN ATE THE WOODCHUCK, 5 MILES TO TOWN, CURLY HEADED WOMAN, YELLOW BARBER and a different version of IDA RED. A bowed bass solo break on CUMBERLAND BLUES is also a nice touch. A very well played album, and recommended to old time fans.
